After volunteering with Dogwatch for two years, I decided to find a way to turn my passion for dogs into a career. I completed a Certificate in Animal Care and am now currently studying towards a Diploma in Veterinary Nursing. I also have my Pet First Aid certificate.
Two months after starting with Top Notch and falling in love with every Golden Retriever I met, I decided that I needed one of my own (named Arlo). Having grown up with two Jack Russells (aptly named Jack and Russell), I also have a big soft spot for little dogs with big personalities.
For me, the best part about my job (aside from spending all day with dogs!) is building relationships with the dogs in our care. It always makes me smile when I see dogs that have stayed with us previously come bursting out of the car for a cuddle from the staff.

Throughout my four years with the Top-Notch team, I have found my love for small furry friends, from Chihuahua’s all the way to big goof balls such as Rottweilers!
This led me to get my own fluffer! My dog Boston, the Mini Schnauzer cross is also a working boy. His main job is trialing dogs that are nervous, timid, or haven’t had a lot of socialising, which he loves! Partly due to his respectable doggy instincts and his love for the chase. He knows how to get a shy dog out of their shell.
My favourite part of my job is remembering small details about our dogs and finding out their wee quirks. Being a part of the team for so long, I take pride in getting to know our guests and their fun personalities.
I have also gained my NZ Pet First Aid certificate twice! So, rest assured your fur baby will be in good hands while they holiday with us.

I grew up with a menagerie of animals, from dogs and cats to budgies and rats. This has instilled in me an empathy and passion for all animals
After finishing University I travelled to South America. This is where I spent the next 12 years of my life, working with rescued wildlife and walking Pumas through the jungles of Bolivia. This eventually led to me helping develop and manage a new Conservation project called O.N.C.A.
Upon returning to New Zealand I completed a degree in Conservation and started working for DOC. However, I missed working hands-on with animals. So, after settling down with my own dog and four cats, I was lucky enough to get a job at Top Notch! I am also a qualified Pet First Aider.

I have been working at top notch for two years. Over this time I have formed so many relationships with the dogs in our care. I always get excited to meet new dogs and see our regulars. I have my certificate in Pet First Aid.
I enjoy building a trusting relationship with both the dogs and their owners. Making sure owners feel their babies are in good hands is important to me, as I know how much the dogs are missed while they are with us. I love reporting back all the things the dogs have been up to over their stay.
One of the most rewarding parts of my job is watching new dogs find their feet and gain confidence over their stay. It’s so heartwarming when I take a shy dog out for a walk and they soon start making friends with the other dogs.
Dogs have always been a big part of my family. My three dogs Rocky the Chihuahua, Jeffery the German spitz and Moose the German Shepherd (random combination I know) have all been staying at Top Notch since before I started working here. They all love coming in and the Chihuahua thinks he owns the place.

Growing up with dogs has made them become a big part of my life. At home I have three beautiful dogs; a GSP, Labrador X and a Foxy all who I adore.
I am an experienced dog owner and have completed a Pet First Aid course. I have also bred both detection and family dogs in the past. I decided to pursue this hobby further after high school at Top Notch.
I am currently studying commerce and Mandarin full time, with an interest of possible animal study in the future. When I’m not studying, I’m spending my spare days at Top Notch.
Building relationships with the dogs in our care is always my favourite part as each one has something unique to offer!

My passion for animals began at a very young age, with dogs always being my absolute favourite creatures! After being a stay at home mum with my two children for a few years I finally decided it was time to pursue my dream in working with dogs.
I studied Animal Care which lead me to Top Notch as work experience and I was then lucky enough to be offered a position once I completed my Animal Care certification.
I am currently studying full time to be a dog groomer and working at Top Notch part time. I look forward to being able to use my new skills to care for your furbabies at the kennels in the future.
